The 2025 Council on Business & Society Student Article Competition is now open for registration! 
Student voice at the Council on Business & Society

The Council on Business & Society launches its 2025 student CSR article competition. Between 14th February and 31st March, register and write a winning article on a business, society, and planet topic set by the faculty of the CoBS 12 member schools of business and management covering 6 continents and 16 countries. There will be 1 student winner, 1 runner-up, and up to 3 finalists nominated per CoBS member school.

Schools in the Competition

In the forefront of business, society, and planet since 2011, the Council on Business & Society launches its 2025 Student CSR Article Writing Competition! The competition is open to the Council’s member-school students from undergraduate to graduate levels, PhD, MBA and executive education participants.

  • FGV-EAESP (Brazil)

  • School of Management Fudan University (China)

  • IE Business School (Spain)

  • Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (India)

  • Keio Business School (Japan)

  • Monash Business School (Australia)

  • Olin Business School, Washington University (USA)

  • Smith School of Business, Queen’s University (Canada)

  • Stellenbosch Business School (South Africa)

  • Trinity Business School, Trinity College Dublin (Ireland)

  • Warwick Business School (United Kingdom).

This year's topics

If you’re a student currently studying in one of the Council’s member schools, passionate about responsible leadership, CSR, sustainability, responsible finance, diversity and inclusion, social entrepreneurship, business and its impact on society and planet, then the invitation is open to write a 1,200 to 2,000-word article in English. Your article must be based on one of the following:

  • What is the impact of trade wars on sustainable business practices?

  • Addressing biodiversity – how can companies help restore nature in all its forms?

  • How do humans interact with AI to ensure the common good?

  • What can politicians learn from CEOs, if anything? What can those newly elected to office learn from those leading the world’s most successful organisations?

  • Purpose-Driven Leadership: How does aligning personal and organizational purpose create meaningful impact in business?

  • What is the role of AI in sustainability?

  • Sustainability and trade – how do we develop trade policies and strategies that better address wider social and environmental issues?

  • The Sustainability Transformation Dilemma: Challenges and strategies for established businesses

  • How can companies and governments balance the benefits and costs of decarbonization in the modern business landscape?

  • Beyond DEI: How can companies embed inclusion without the Label?

The prizes

  • A €500 cash prize for the winning article in each CoBS alliance member school

  • Winners, runners-up and finalists win Council on Business & Society branded goodies

  • Winner, runner-up and finalist articles will be published in June’s special issue of Global Voice magazine

  • Winner, runner-up and finalist articles will be posted on CoBS Insights, the Council’s blog with a global audience

  • Obtain a CoBS Certificate: Participant, Finalist, Runner-up, and Winner certificates branded 12 leading business schools.

How to enter the competition

Please register to enter the competition via your School Coordinator indicated below, using your school e-mail address and mentioning the studies you are currently following. Mails received using other provider addresses will be considered automatically ineligible for the competition. Registration and submission is from February 14th to March 31st 2025 inclusive.  

Upon registering via your school Coordinator, you will receive a student article-writing guide providing the competition rules, timeline and tips on drafting your article.
